Would today’s captains of industry be happier in a 1950s-style world? — The Monkey Cage

Would today’s captains of industry be happier in a 1950s-style world? — The Monkey Cage:

Andrew Gelman thinks "If you’re superrich and your goal is to be viewed as a hero, I’d say that the current era from the mid-90s through now has been a good time to do it." The context is American society. China is in the " Gilded Age", some would argue. Just remember Deng Xiaoping's words "致富光荣 (zhìfù guāngróng: To get rich is glorious!)".
Not only respect, also that people give the rich the credibility in many areas they don't have expertise whatsoever. Just because they are rich, people assume they are smart, intelligent, and wise in any area. People listen to Trump about tax, Bill Gates for education, etc. What more are the rich asking for?
